In an episode of TopGear, Clarkson raced an RS4 up some mountain region in the south of France. I know it says Verdon on the map JC is looking at, but it doesnt narrow it down enough.

Does anyone know exactly where it is? Or recognise it?

Gorge Du Verdon was my guess but it was over twenty years ago I was last there so I might be wrong.

Anyone know if the gorge would be worth a visit in late July? I'll be about an hour an a half away in Antibes but I don't want to waste a day going there if it'll only be clogged up with caravans and Citroen Xsara Picassos (like the wonderful coast road always is...)

The gorge itself will be clogged up whatever, but that doesn't really matter as the views are simply jawdropping and you really don't want to drive too fast. Besides it's not a great driving road in my book, too many rock faces and 1,000 foot drops for my tastes smile

We went when we stayed in Antibes. It was a full day out but stopped off at a few places on the way.
It really is worth a visit but as Deckster said it'll be busy.
Hire a canoe and take a ride down the river it's a must see.
