Fight the Power?
Discussion
A few months ago the local council in Cheltenham decided to employ 3 more traffic wardens to battle the non existent parking problems. Why they did this is unknown, and comments were made at the time between residents.
Roll on 3 months and I have just seen a sign in my local car car park that are increasing the day rate from £2 to £5 pounds. Now I know the London crowd will say what a bargain, but there is no residents parking and I often have to park in there, as there are no spaces on the road.
I have no doubt the 150% increase in parking charges is due to hiring 3 more traffic wardens and them needing to be paid. Does this strike anyone as crass stupidity and absolute joke?
I have decided to make it my mission to stop this increase as I am fed up with just taking it. Has anyone got any suggestions or experience on how to fight this?

Stirring up opinions in the local media. Starting partitions. Calling local councilers to account.
A well-worded, POLITE but to the point letter to the local paper, asking how the council can justify a 150% increase in parking charges in these times of financial difficulty etc etc.Cheltenham does have parking problems on Sundays people dump cars all over the place & can be dangerous. Then Cheltenham's transport man doesn't even have a driving licence he's a tree hugging hippy with no clue as to how traffic flows work. A good example of this is putting bus stops on the one-way outside Cult Clothing instead of the hardly used and large bus depot Royal Well. Still in clogging up the town like this they can band about the idea of road charging.
I used to have a permit for parking in Cambray Place, but the council kept issuing permits despite there not being sufficient spaces to accomodate all the cars. On top of that you had non-residents parking there as well.
