The answer is bad. Very, very bad.

I finally got around to watching Aliens vs Predator: Requiem last night.

Thank goodness it was free. Absolute pile of poo. Just dreadful.

It was of interest only because many of the ideas about the development of the Alien creature were clearly lifted from the William Gibson script for Alien 3 (one of the many scripts that were never filmed).

The special effects were clever, I'll say that, but nothing else about the movie was. Frankenstein vs The Wolfman probably had more integrity.

It's a shame the Aliens franchise is now worn out. But it is. Knock it on the head, chaps.

This makes me sad frown

As cinematically (sp?) there are few Alien Species that are so suited and so epic on the Big Screen.

It is almost more difficult to ruin such a great idea.

Cinematography in this film is rubbish!

Far too dark to see anything.

Personally...I hate both AVP films! Why can't Hollywood get it right!!!

There is a cult following behind the Aliens & Predator creations......and the games are classics!!! There are also loads of books, with very interesting stories, so why not use them as a basis for an AVP film!

A huge part of the AVP appeal is the Colonial Marine!!! Why...oh, why...set the story in the 'present day'!! Any AVP film should be set in a future with the Alien, Predator, & Colonial Marine!

Hell, they could've taken the story from AVP2 (the pc game) and used that to create a film....that would have been a hell of a lot better than what has been produced so far in the series.

The AVP premise has the potential to offer great viewing....but Hollywood have twice now rushed out films that do not stick true to the things that make the AVP series so damn appealing smile

Watched this recently too and was quite shocked at how bad it is. Was so dark I thought the tv was broken!!

The only bit of this film I would recommend is the swimming pool bit:

'So you'd rather stare at the clock than me?'. Loverly lick

The setup story was ste, but I thought it was ok once it got going. I agree that it was too dark but there was at least a goodly amount of slaughter going on.

It's not that great, but I still prefer it to AVP 1

Hear hear. A superb game which would have lent itself brilliantly to a film - imagine how the 3 seperate storylines would intertwine. Sort of like a futuristic Pulp Fiction with aliens (And Predators. Although they're an alien too. Well, you know what I mean).

It was so bad it wasn't even good with it. was worse than the first one and thats saying something.

There was a "script" doing the rounds years ago, rumored that Scott and Cameron wanted to do it, based on the original stories and ideas. But it didn't have a single English, or Human Language word in it so it supposedly limited its commercial appeal.

I couldnt remember seeing this - i was sure i had, but i couldnt remember the movie AT ALL (And usually i retain useless knowledge, like entire movie plots) until i read the clock comment, and that sparked something and i checked and sure enough... ive seen it...

and still cant remember anything about it. So I can only assume it is utter, utter rubbish!

The Gibson script is excellent, totally and utterly unsuited to being filmed at the time of writing, but great fun nonetheless.

Here if anyone is interested in reading it. http://home.online.no/~bhundlan/scripts/alien3/gib...

Exactly the point!!!

When you mention Alien V Predator...its actually Alien V Predator V Colonial Marine!!!! The story needs all 3 to remain true to the AVP genre.

There were loads of books based on the AVP universe that I read as a kid. They were great. Really interesting stories, and the best thing about them......they were believable and actually worked as a story!!

I've read a few of these, some of which seemed ok - not sure how they would translate to film though...

I liked the prison themed one, with the different types of genetically modified aliens. There was an interesting earth themed one too, which was pretty average.

I can't really comment on AVP-R, there was too much to comment on! For me is seemed to have too many concepts to explore - these characters are fab and don't even need to share the same screen to be honest. One of the cooler scenes was the shot of the Predator homeworld, which lasted for bout 2 seconds smile

I've read all the scripts from that site. Good stories, some of them. And MUCH better than the rather poor effort that actually got filmed. What's sad is that, of course, the special effects technology available now would have allowed the Gibson script to be made...and that would have been a good film!

Amazingly that's exactly the thought I had when opening this thread.

A truly horrific film, it takes a special kind of incompetence to combine two brilliant film series and mess it up. I couldn't remember a single characters name and didn't care about any of them in the slightest. They were there simply to add to the bodycount (not that you could tell what was going on half the time). Finally, how rubbish was that ending? Looks as if the writers lost interest and decided *spoiler* "Ah the hell with it, just kill them all. Is my paycheque here yet?"
