Are they any good?

Personally Id go for a Hurricane in aluminium...or if you must then carbon fibre

i got a similar 1 from germany. came with no instruction, poor brackets and the flexi hose size is 80mm dia. they only supplied 6"......still thats enough for most of the people i know oh err missis .

its been a pig to find more flexi hose in 80mm dia. still havent got any to finish the job so the inlet is choked down to 65mm dia. noise hasnt increased a lot but on the plus side it does rev easier and seems to pick up quicker when overtaking.
it mite be beta with larger dia hose on the air inlet instead of the standard hose?? but its beta than an open air filter like k&n, no warm air to be sucked in.

Finally! I've been interested in the CDA since it was first introduced a couple of years ago and I haven't found anybody who will definitively say whether it is as quiet as a standard airbox or not.

Edit: Should have mentioned that I'm interested in it precisely because it is quiet.

Wow!
Can't believe I missed this thread!
I thought I had the only one ever sold!!!!!! Never seen it mentioned in any threads here before except one I started?

Sinclaires fitted A CDA for me 12 months ago, supplied by Owen at Racespeed, after my workmates coughed up for my birthday, I took the chance to get a sports exhaust fitted at the same time.

I am really happy with it, it seemed quite heavy in the box but its not noisy (boomy), if you press the throttle swiftly there is a clean whoosh of air as it sucks in. (I like it). Sinclaires adapted the inlet pipe (between engine and box) of the original Lotus box (same advice from Racespeed) so no loss in diameter I think, had it cleaned after six months and again remarked on the clean induction whoosh and "nice" throaty sound! Did have to have the bracketry all refitted though as it had fallen off! German engineering indeed! Four Spring Duck Technique morelike

Performance wise...
Thank you Tup - edited now the mist has cleared Not as noticeable however in the difference since her last visit to Sinclaires. Just had her decatted and love the sound, positively menacing! Performance gain "seems" noticeable - like a new toy all over again...its the small things that make the difference - alas the call of the new Tuscan S Soft Top is strong!

Performance wise it did seem revvier, pulled harder to the limiter and seemed to be going 5-8 mph faster at the same revs, also seemed to pull nicer from lower down the range

hmmm, i think the extra noise must be the issue here, unless of course you've changed the gearing or wheel sizes.

still at least your post was after drinking-up time.
