Noticed my insurance only covers for theft if fitted with Thatcham approved system - possibly Thatcham 1 but can't remember. What is the standard-fit Lotus item rated at?

Indeed it did - will dig it out and fax it to insurers I think - in case I lose it in future - that way I can say "I've already proved it" in case I lose the car that goes with the certificate!

Actually all the certificate does is confirm the make and model of the alarm. Is it definitely Thatcham 1 standard or Thatcham 2 (which I assume is not as good). I could do with some advice on this quickly as I don't want lizzie to not be insured!

If it's the Cobra it's Cat 1, thats what I have. IIRC Cat 1 = alarm and immobiliser.
See... www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=82083&f=15&h=0&hw=thatcham

I'm pretty sure they were all CAT1 on the 98-99 onwards cars. If you have the round fob with two buttons and a Lotus badge on the back then that's the CAT 1 jobbie.
