Hi

I have just picked up a s2 111s 04 model.... am soooo pleased can not stop going for drives for the smallest of reasons!... am doing shopping 1 item at a time.... 'Milk now and back out later for bread! then maybe some sugar a bit after that!'
anyways... I want to get a sport exhaust but unsure of which! can anyone give me recommendations and possibly pics?

I like the round tailpipes instead of the oval!

I was told I can get a genuine Lotes sports exhaust fitted for £400???

any help appreciated.

Thanks

Lee

Glad your loving the car

I've got a feeling the Lotus one's oval?! Someone will probably reply and say I'm wrong though!

I've got the Magnex one as I personally prefer the oval exhaust. Not that I had a choice because it was on the car when I bought it!

Lotus will fit you the Janspeed which isnt that nice sounding. I dont think its stainless either.

Torque technique in Salisbury make a very nice full stainless, big bore round exhaust. I have had mine a fortnight. It sounds and looks great and weighs half the Janspeed.

Cost a couple of hundred and 30 quid an hour fitting. He does loads of Astons, Ferrari, Caterham etc. He makes them in-house and takes real pride in his work.

Excuse to have a burn down to sunny Dorset what.

Absolute Rubbish . . .

The S2 Janspeed is stainless steel . . . and is one of the nicest sounding exhausts around . . . certainly on par with the Lotus OEM part . . .

It also sounds better than the current flavour of the month - Larini . . .

Keep yer sporren on mate. I heard the Janspeed was mild steel. Appologies if I have been missinformed. Secondly isnt the sound really down to personal preference?

I listend to a few Janspeeds with and without induction kit/cat replacement, I found it shallow and raspy compared to the torque t one I bought which has a much deeper note and is half the weight.

My recomendation is do what I did, do your homework, listen to a few, then plumb for something you like the sound of, is good qulity and is in your price range. If you end up with Janespeedos after that then fair play.

What isnt "absolute rubbish" is that Janspeed is not everyones cup of tea. Read some of the recent threads on this subject to get an overview.

I believe with the janspeed you get the choice of mild steel or stainless at least with the S1 anyway.

I got the janspeed with hurricane induction kit and I love the sound though as others have said at times it can sound a bit like a wet fart. At the end of the day it's all down to personal preference as far as the sound goes

My understanding is that Lotus Sport (OEM), no longer uses the ITG/Janspeed exhaust system anymore, but rather CLF/Magnex.

Heard the same about the ITG/Janspeed, that it's a quite a "rasppier" note than the Magnex system.

My local Lotus service manager told me that because i have the S2 111s, the standard tail pipe ends will not fit, therefore need to change those too.

Be aware, if you have a new 111S (or any model for that matter), if you do not purchase the Lotus Sport(OEM) exhaust, you'll likely void the original manufacture wuarantee. Something to consider, should you decide to change systems.

Lotus use Magnex/CLF
fit what you like - it only voids the warranty on the exhaust itself -not the whole car
the Lotus sports exhaust is only warrantied by Lotus for 12K miles/1 year - as I just found out when my 'stainless' Magnex official exhaust (circa £500 fitted from new by dealer)broke ...buy direct from Magnex dealers - at least its a lifetime warranty (as per Janspeed)

My thoughts were that it only goes raspy (on any exhaust system) when you remove the cat.

I have a standard cat in place with the stainless steel janspeed with the oval pipes so looks standard and its not raspy in any sense. It gives the car a more purposeful idle without being loud, flooring it my ITG inside the car is louder than the exhaust.

My only complaint is its a little boomy at 3000rpm, but below or above that it doesnt boom.

Would a sports cat fix this boom ?

i have just fitted a lotus supplied magnex exhaust to mine S2 and the sound is grrrrreat, nice deep roarrr. not raspy at all. i started with a CRP in but decieded it was too loud so back on with the cat because the house was shaking when i started the car up in the garage!!
you wont be disapointed with a lotus clf/magnex.
