September is on the way, and I'm told by my dealer that the factory will start building my 111r over the next couple of weeks for September 54 plate delivery. It can't come soon enough!

I was told today that after a 1000-mile run-in period, they will need the car back for a 1/2 day service, costing me an extra £100 for oil and filter on top of the delivery price.

It this usual, or is the checkup & oil change normally included by dealers in the list price?

Speaking of which, has anyone buying recently had any luck negotiating a reasonable discount on a 111r?

Thanks in advance,

I bought a new 111s last september and I paid £38 for my 1000 miles service for oil, filter etc... Labour was paid for by Lotus.

Yep - I put down my deposit a few months back, but wanted a 54-plate. I only have the balance left to settle, but was going to ask the dealer if he would consider knocking a little bit off the outstanding amount. Not sure what you're getting at, Rik?

Well, seems like the figure I was given for the run-in service was a bit on the high side. The chap I spoke to said it was a guesstimate, so he probably went a bit OTT. I thought I'd ask here as it seemed rather a lot for oil & filter.

Thanks all!

I assumed (never assume ) that September delivery was due to demand, in which case little chance of a discount.
However, you've decided to give up summer in the Elise for the sake of a 54 plate? Takes all sorts, I guess.

True - missed summer, but then I did need that time to save up for the car!
