There seems to be a lot of new members who have started posting on here in the last few months, quite a few of whom have bought 111R's or Exiges.

to everyone.

Nice to see lots more converts to the Elise. I just hope they dont get as popular a Boxters

Been done a few times before but what good or bad reactions have new owners had from their family / friends and the public to their car. Fortunately almost all seem to be good reactions.

(I need to be reminded of how fantastic these cars are as mine is still stuck in a bodyshop and probably still will be for a few weeks more and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms )

I am a recent owner (2 weeks). My wife was bemused when I suggested spending £13,500 on a 'mid-life crisis' car. Not helped by her mate suggesting it was just going to be a black hole into which I pour money. Helped by the fact we bought it as a company car and even she admits it is very 'pretty'. She had sugested something more 'normal' like a Toyota, TT or MG, but that was missing the point: since I first saw one on the motorway in 1997 I have wanted one..and now I have one. Need an accessory which keeps the flies off my teeth, as owning and driving gives a constant smile. Even the neighbours smile everytime I open the garage door and they can see it sitting under the cover wrapped up like a baby.

Bought mine (111s) the weekend before last and (finally) pick her up on Friday

Christening her with a trip to VW on Sunday. Lots of questions for more long-standing owners so hopefully catch up with you then.

I have only ever had one 'bad' experience when some to$$er started calling me a w4nk3r and giving me a hand signal for driving a nice car.

Some old woman also walked past while I was showing my friend the car not long after I bought it and said "ah that's cute. Did you keep the box?"

Stole my thunder a bit but thought it was quite funny.

On the whole people seem to love them

Got my first Elise a week ago. Havent stopped grinnin yet. The wife was a bit unsure until she drove it, then she did the grinnin thing!! Everybody I know wants a spin in it. Feels great. Lots of heads turn and look. I'm a bit worried about lots of clonking noises when driving on bumpyish roads. Been told it's normal? The car has 6 months warrenty so I may take it to be checked out. Can anybody suggest anywhere near Worthing, West Sussex? But it is a great buzz to drive, beats the hell out of my wifes BMW!

Had the Elise since June. Family worried sick at first (my uncle had a near fatal crash in a Lotus Europa years ago) but now they all want a go.

Best reaction I get is from kids, usually a big and shout of 'nice car!'

Except the kids that were out on the tiffin in the dales run a few weeks back. WH's Griff was in the garage and the elise was met with a shout of "you're not a tvr....go home!" Cheeky sods

No its not. You will need to go and purchase a very loud sports exhaust and CRP as soon as possible to drown out the noise of the clunks

My father used to have an Excel when they first came out and all the local kids used to think he was Knight Rider

Call Miles @ Fibreglass Services in Arundel (01243 554422) - he's a Lotus legend mate, very very reasonable pricing (£35/hr labour!) and really knows his stuff. Been a part of the Lotus clan for decades, very close links to the factory and anyone who's important in the Lotus world. One of the few characters left. Brilliant bloke, frequently recommended on here. Mine's down there being serviced as I type.

We have had ours about a month now, it is fantastic to drive. It has just gone in for its 1000 mile service and to have a nice shiny sports exhaust put on it

The idea is for the sports exhaust to be loud and raucous, not nice and shiny. You will be asking if they come in various pastel colours next. Honestly woman

Hi Guy's

I've not been posting as I span the car on Saturday and I'm only just getting over it, I don't think the TT did me any favour's as the four wheel drive got me into a force sense of security. It was very wet and I was going far to fast but I should have known better, to make matter's worse Mr's Boggy and both her parent's were watching me at the time ! (GREAT BLOKE NOT)
