Having problems with my Elise S1 doors not staying open when getting in and out of the car. Is this a common problem, can anyone help?

The door springs can go. Mine has on the drivers door, it makes the getting in & out dance even harder. I bought a pair of replacement springs from hangar111.com (you have to email and ask them, cost about £14?)

Have no idea how to fit them yet. Looks like it will certainly require the front calm off not sure what after that.

Suspect I will wait till I have a long warm weekend in the spring

this is a common problem on the s1. The part is only about £8 but its a pain to change as you have to take the door off to do it (or thats the easiest way i could find). The clam however doesnt have to come off as i found you can un-do all the fixings clam to sill / wheel arch / inside bonnet lip then gently pull the clam out while you undo the door bolts, just remember to put the spacers back behind the hinge when refitting.
