S1 111S - Which Exhaust?
Discussion
Hi, I've got a Brooke Kensington one which is not too loud assuming you keep the cat.

But as your getting B&C to fit an induction kit for you i'm assuming noise is not an issue. I've got the Zorst and 57I K&N and it makes a good sound. I kept the cat on and it suits me well. Burble on the down change and nut case race car in the high revs. I love it! Good value too.
There are many around, but bare in mind the louder ones will stop you doing some track days. mines 98bd. So Goodwood just about let me on but a lot of tracks seem to be about 105db. It transforms the feel of the car when your driving it by simply sounding the b0ll0x. If you get a de-cat pipe as well it'll make it louder still and you'll need to put the cat back in for MOT's I'll get a decat for my next Elise a S2 111s in the spring, has to be done

lots of stuff.
eliseparts seems the exhaust of choice.
I have a quicksilver - make the Enzo sports exhaust apparently - and i love it - only heard good recommendations - can be found on the hangar 111 site.
If you can though try and find a second had Exige Supersports - 'kin excellent sound - MLOC lot will vouch for this !

I picked up my S1 111S last friday (1999 'V' with 2.4k on the clock).
Before I took delivery I had an Eliseparts twin-pipe exhaust fitted. It's a little more expensive than some of the others but is an absolute work of art and sounds amazing. Make sure you order the s/s gasket kit and two new exhaust mounts.
I also had a Hurricane induction kit installed along with a ali' 52mm 160TB but made sure to keep the OEM cat in place.
The subsequent noise is astounding,,, makes it a completely different car. Eliseparts have a 5% discount on at present and I think the all-up bill was just under £800. I got the garage to fit it all FOC and made sure that they gave me all the original parts.
Totally transforms the car and makes it sound and go like a S160 without all the iddling hassles and shorter service intervals...
welcome to the club!

Similar situation... I picked up my 111s (S1) a few weeks ago and I want it lairy. I won't be tracking it because it's my only car and I can't afford to maintain it properly for track use. This means noise levels aren't an issue.
Actually, noise levels are an issue - I want it loud. It needs to pop, bang, scream, burble and generally scare pedestrians. (I was torn between a Griff and an Elise and I think I want a bit of the Griff's lairyness).
Suggestions for maximum roaring power?
Gruffy

I've had the Standard Lotus Sport one (Janspeed I think) which was pretty gruff, and just replaced it with the B&C s/s one.
Sounds great, performance improved but isn't too offensive at cruising speed on the Motorway. When it gets hot and you give it some beans it sounds great.
Trunkie has the same I think with an induction kit and his sounds like it's got afterburners

Eliseparts, K&N571 & CRP is about as loud as you can get.

Ooooo... sounds good!
So far I'm thinking: Hurricane, CRP and a sports exhaust (just not sure which one).
there is a school of thought that says that the VVC engine like s a bit of back-pressure which would be denied with a CRAP fitted. Also bear in mind that your car will be illegal with one fitted and the cat will need to be refitted annually for MOT... If you stack the car, your insurance could be invalidated.
if you do keep the cat in place (as with mine), you will not get the popping and banging,,, but you will get a 'woofling' noises instead,,, still sounds excellent.
the 160 throttle body is definitely worthwhile as the diameter is 52mm as opposed to the standard 48mm. the electronics in the engine will adapt to suit (5 full presses on the accelerator with the ignition on but engine off to adapt the ecu). the pick-up is much quicker.
mine is now about as loud as i would want it as with the roof on everything becomes somewhat amplified.

And I want unbearably, unsocially loud! And if I end up toning it down afterwards then so be it, but I don't want to think "I wish I'd gone the whole hog". I'm sure fellow PHers can appreciate that?

That's what I have on mine,ITG induction kit and B&C ss exhaust and combined, these two provide low bellow through to wail at high revs.
When it's really warm, it's very loud, although a 3 hr trip at motorway speeds doesn't give you a headache like some.
