Just getting some feedback from Elise owners (mk1 & mk2) on the level of interest for a carbon fibre front and rear body shell. The cost for both would be approximately £4.5K unfitted.

Comments please!

That's a lot of money!

What's the weight saving? I doubt you'd get much serious interest for that money because there are very few elise drivers who really honestly would benefit that much from having a lighter car.

err, thought that was the whole point of the elise?
would look fab bare, so long as it was laid up well.
price does seem a bit high though - works out to what - 50% premium over standard?

Well yes, performance through light weight was always Colin Chapman's philosophy, but one of the driving (excuse pun) forces behind the Elise was that it should be *low cost* as well.

£4.5k buys you a hell of a lot of performance tuning/driver training/maintenance ....

Try posting on BCBBS you'll probably get some more interest there with the die hards!

They are already available I believe.

I don't think they've sold at all well though. To be honest the Elise is too cheap a car to justify that type of expense. Most of the hard core owners cars are only worth 15k with the odd nutter who's dropped a further 10k on engine upgrades.

Can have both sets of clams made in China for half that price and half the weight of standard.
