SatNav for car with aeroscreen?

Was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience of satnav systems suitable for dash mounting (removable sucker mount?) on aeroscreened cars and/or could offer any advice on which is best?

I think the ideal spec would be something:
o Suitable for dash mounting (not sure if antennae are usually on the "screen side" of the unit and hence if this will cause a problem?)
o Of minimal depth, given it will already be closer to the driver than if mounted on a windscreen
o Good daylight readable display
o Battery powered (say 2 hrs worth) to avoid the need for trailing wires

Camera alerts or speed warnings would be an added plus...

Any suggestions most appreciated as, for some reason, the stores don't seem to anticipate this type of use and have been unable to be of much assistance.

If you have aeroscreens, then presumably you have no roof ?

In which case, as long as the receiver is not tucked away under a metal shield, it will work fine. Your issue then really becomes one of mounting technology and positioning for visibility.

Some of the LCD screens have a "wrap-round" clip that attaches to top and bottom of the unit - it's possible to slip in a piece of stiff card to act as a glare shield quite effectively.

i used to have a 7,for that i adapted the sat nav cradle so a strap went through it and it strapped round my left leg,failing that,stick on velchro

You can use a bike satnav, mount the cradle into the car - and then you can remove/replace the unit at will.

I use a Garmin Zumo 660 on my bike and in my Dax Rush (no screen at all), waterproof, shockproof and one of the best sat navs too.
