Tom Tom Live Services problem?
Discussion
Is anyone aware of a generic problem with Tom Tom Live Services?
I bought a new 1005 at the end of September, it worked OK until just over two weeks ago when it stopped connecting to Traffic services.
I've tried forcing it to connect and following the instructions on Tom Tom's support site to force connection but I just get connection errors.
Tom Tom's support get the award for actually answering emails but providing no actual response. They are now saying that there is a general problem with Live services and that they are working with service providers to fix it,
I can't find anything on Google to suggest that there is a major problem and I suspect that they are fobbing me off.
I bought the unit from Amazon so I'll bung it back on Monday if it's the unit but just wondered if others are having similar problems?

My 1005 has only suffered a few slow start-ups of Live services recently, nothing too bad.
However, it's clear TomTom have royally f
ked off their customer base over the last two years, with issues like :
Crap batteries
Removal of services (e.g. google search)
reduction in services (restricted search distance)
Very slow operation of certain models (740/750 live), and also being reported on the 1005.
and now this with Live Services.
All people seem to be getting from customer services is "sorry, but were just trying to fix the problem." Doesn't appear to be any recognition of what the issue is, which is the most frustrating thing. People seem to believe it's a contractual/payment issue they have with whoever provides the service.

That's a very amusing thread "I don't have a problem so I don't believe that anyone else has"
We're off to Brands this weekend and if I get stuck on the M25 for bleeding hours I shall be very very naffed off having stumped up for a new unit especially because of the live services. I've got an old TomTom One that would do the navigation perfectly well....

I have a Go 550 Live - it normally works OK and I don't think their is anything to match HD Live traffic on the market, especially off the main trunks. However it has it flaws and sometimes it refuses to connect to live services (sometimes I think vodophone issues, but mainly TomTom I think) and until someone comes up with a better system I'll live with it.I agree, our last model was a 750 (I think) which died just before it was a year old so I was lucky enough to be able to get Amazon to take it back and I paid the extra for the newer model. When it works it's great - it takes away the debate about whether a radio traffic news item is correct or not and I only got stuck in one unexpected jam and that was fairly late at night with little traffic on the road and a fairly recent incident. I can't see any alternative but I really wish they would sort it out.

My google searching skills had failed me....it does seem to be a fairly widespread error - there are currently 41 pages of posts on Tom Tom's website...
On the topic of Google, I was massively p*ssed to see that they got rid of the Google Search function from the TomoTom iPhone app. Its the only way I could get to-the-door directions on most of the places I visit.Gassing Station | In-Car Electronics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
