I have a TomTom Rider mounted on my bike. It seemed the charge mount connection was getting a bit iffy, and now has finally stopped charging all together.

I tested the various point in the system to ensure the problem was with the actual mount. 12v is getting to the mount, but the mount outputs only 2.9v, where it should be 5v. I'm fairly sure this is the problem, rather than the actual connection.

£45 odd for a new mount, and looking around online this seems to be a very common problem and some people go through as many as 3 a year?

Now the questions is: My maps are outdated anyways. To update them and the speed cameras and such is on the silly side of £60, with another $45 for a new mount, and to be honest its a rather rubbish GPS anyway. The mount is a quickfix, but I dont need a quickfix, will only need it functional by spring anyway.

New GPS, or "fix and update" old one.

I bought a new mount (didn't cure the problem) & sent the TomTom rider & mount to TomTom for them to investigate.
They sent me a new Rider & mount within the week free of charge.

It was way out of warranty too. smile
