Becker Map Pilot - not from MB?

Hi,
I am about to take delivery of a mercedes that has pre-wiring for a Becker MAP PILOT.
The dealers want £495 for one, but I can find them half price on the net from EEBAY etc
Anyone had bad / good experience of sourcing from eebay. Rumours are that loads were stolen and they get killed at 1st update??
may just be rumours?
