Guys is there a better unit for uploading custom routes (currently as ITN files made in Tyre) than an old Tom Tom (which is f***n hopeless as a satnav). Do any of the more modern garmin units do it with GPX files ?

Tonsko can you please elaborate how it "appeared" on your phone? In which app? Google maps app? iPhone?

It doesn't seem to work on the iOS version, which is a shame.

Found that my phone was great for this - road trip across the US. Planned a leg in google maps, saved it to my gmail profile or whatever it's called, and then it appeared on my phone. Really easy.
ive already done the routes in TYRE though

I also need voice commands and a proper 3d view

The latest version of Tyre Pro can upload routes to ALL TomToms, including the new ones.

Thanks, can you tell me how you do this in the tom tom though ? I thought many of the modern tt's cant upload a custom file and if they can, it can only be a maximum of 4 waypoints.

TomTom have announced a completely new Go range, although it is not yet available. I suspect this new range will have the itinerary feature. I would wait and see before investing. Meanwhile I too would be interested to know whether Tyre Pro can really transfer a multi point Google Maps route to a TT 1005.

I got an email from Tyre announcing the latest version. Don't have it myself, but some more information here:

thanks

this worries me though:

"The only thing you will miss using this feature, is the lack of route instructions."

I think a used GO 950 is the safest bet

I use Sygic - find it way better than TomTom and Garmin (have used both in the past).
And works well with TYRE.

I use it on my Android phone, but also have it on a larger tablet for a bigger screen size.

So far, I have not been able to get it to work between the TT GO LIVE 1005 and Tyre Pro. It says it uploads the route, but there is no menu item for you to select it. It does not allow you to copy it to the TT as an active route. frown
