What Sat Nav with live traffic updates?

Currently have a Tom Tom One.... yes, it really is that old
My requirements are Europe maps (as it's occasionally used there, but only once/twice a year). It must have traffic updates. Anything else I'm not bothered about and I'd like to keep the price down.
Also I assume that after a while I'll have to pay to keep the traffic updates.... Cost?
So, recommendations please. Ta

I think Halfords are still doing the 1005 HD with free lifetime maps and 3 years free casmeras when you work it out its nearly free.
There have been a few problems getting it set up if you have a certain anti virus software but I have had no problems and rate it very very highly and is a significant upgrade on previous models (mine was a 540 live)

Borrowed a friends Garmin the other day.
- Didn't like the main voice... sound a bit camp
- Liked the way it announced I would be on this road for 23miles
- Liked the way it announced the name of the road I would be turning onto
- It had traffic although this wasn't live live updates

As far as I know the Tom Tom system works on information from mobile phones, what I do know is that if from Portsmouth I travel to Donington Park put the postcode in and generally arrive within a minute of what it predicts. If along the way there is a major incident it diverts you perfectly and gives you time to call the client to say you will be arriving at whatever time it says, it's that good as far as my experience goes. The new lane indicator system means that Lemmings like me can't get it wrong, I rate the unit very highly and use it a lot. The speed camera is as good as my Road Angel too. Getting increasingly hacked off with my TMC system which does not always pick up a signal.
I just have to decide which Tom Tom now.
The 1005 is quite expensive but at the moment Halfords and others are offering a good deal with free lifetime maps and three years live services which added up makes the unit dead cheap. Just a bit of advice about setting it up on your computer if you check out the other thread 'All singing dancing sat nav' dasherdiablo had a right pain with his.Getting increasingly hacked off with my TMC system which does not always pick up a signal.

I travel a lot (usually 1000 miles a week average) and swear by TT Live traffic, I had a 20 minute dalliance with a top of the range Garmin before I took it back and swapped it.

Agreed. HD Traffic is excellent, journey times are accurate, ability to produce accurate journey times must mean route planning is good - which it is.
When I have tried TMC traffic I have found it useless.
Garmin do an equivalent of HD Traffic which is available via Android phones - and using your data allowance on your phone contract. This seems far less satisfactory than the HD Traffic internal sim card system; I have not tried it nor had any first hand reports on it. Anyone here had relevant experience?
Be aware a new range from TT is coming out very soon (Go 5000/6000, I think).

There was two different new TomTom ranges the GO 500/600 = which uses your phone for traffic (needs bluetooth tethering, which for Android is 4 onwards) and the GO 5000/6000 which have sims. Be aware a new range from TT is coming out very soon (Go 5000/6000, I think).
From other threads it seems the data used is quite low and the wait for traffic using bluetooth tethering is almost 0 (as opposed to a couple of minutes on sim versions). So I wouldn't rule it out.
I am not sure the Garmin traffic is comparable to TomTom HD Live

Glad you like it I think very highly of mine still, I found the average speed read-out a bit weird but travelling daily through the M27 road works I'm quite at home with it now.
