My Tomtom has died on me, no life whatsoever.
I need a new one.
Tomtom, Garmin, Navigon or Android?
They all have problems from what i read, since i am getting a new HTC One in a few days, i thought why not combine the two.
But when i'm in remote no internet signal areas, surely i wont actually get navigation as well? quite a major fault there, so i have discounted that option.
Garmin have terrible routing.
Navigon now use garmins terrible routing.
Tomtom are plain unreliable.
What to do!
Ideally i want Southern Ireland and france and belgium areas along with the obligatory UK.
I also use pocketGPS camera database too, so would like to continue with this.
What is the best course of action?

Well the new tomtom go live 6000 is f
king awful so cross that off your list. It's only major draw is the lifetime traffic and maps apart from that the rest sucks! Wish I'd paid for a map and traffic subscription for my 1005 now

You can get TomTom on Android which doesn't need an internet connection to work. (I believe there are other Android navigation apps that work offline) Not sure whether it would work with PocketGPSWorld db (or whether their app will work with routing), new TomToms GO 400/500/600 5000/6000 don't as yet. I guess you must have bought one of the first 1005 then because I've only had mine about six moths and it came with 3 years free subscription to cameras, maps etc. I have nothing but praise for the 1005 since it replaced my old 520 Live. Saw the new ones but fortunately decided to save money with the offer on the 1005. king awful so cross that off your list. Never pays to be only the bleeding edge of technology. One other plus for the 6000 is the speed of rotation is much better on the 6000 so no more guessing which exit you need if you've turned the volume down and going purely on the screen info.
Co-Pilot for Android.... free map upgrades and Live traffic... all Navteq The traffic is free for year one then a few quid after.
I have the full EU one taking it over to Bulgaria etc.
The app uses data only for the traffic and the maps are offline on the device,you can turn traffic off if out of blighty and don't need the road updates.
It also offers 3 routes to your destination too...handy if you know the roads you are going to be using like the A14 car park.
It will manually or auto re-route if traffic is delayed.
Had no issues with mine at all, even going to my daughter dancing event (hate those but when OH is working I do Dad duties on these events) it takes be straight there to any of them.
Yer pays yer money and all that but I like the Sat Nav on my S3 and it goes everywhere with me and I can use it walking and cycling too.....
