I have a Speedcheetah C550 that requires a replacement USB cable in order to update it.
I can get one from Speedcheetah but they cost over £14.00 which seems very expensive. I have tried other USB cables that are around the house, in drawers etc but they will not connect to the actual download page on the speed cheetah website. Speedcheetah tell me that I need their specific cable.
So my question is, what makes their cable different from other USB cables ? The plug ends are the same so is it the number of wires in the cable that makes it different ? If so then there must be other cables that are similar and will work and at a realistic price !
What do I need to look for to get one that works ?

Thanks
Brian.

Maybe they have a mini PCB, or have custom pin-outs so that generic cables can't be used?

But without someone stripping one down and seeing if there's anything peculiar/proprietary in it, it will be difficult to know.

Thanks, looks like I will have to bite the bullet and buy a genuine USB.
Cheers
