I have an aftermarket reversing camera installed in my car - it's part of a Naviplus system and uses the display for that.

The camera has never really been that good and the mounting bracket was untreated mild steel which has now rusted away. I could probably fabricate a new bracket, but I think I'd rather take the opportunity to replace the camera. Rather than attempt to run another wire all the way from the boot to the centre console, am I likely to be able to just cut the old wire and splice the wire for a new camera straight into the old wire?

Assuming yes, are there any aftermarket reversing cameras that come highly recommended. From what I've seen they're not expensive, so I'm happy enough to take a punt if it will probably work.

I fitted a cheap as chips Aliexpress camera and so far I’m impressed. Picture quality is good and just plugged into the aftermarket head unit.

Not sure if you can splice one into the existing cable but at £20 delivered, it’s worth a try.

You can’t generally cut ‘n’ shut video cables. If the new camera has a different connection, you may be able find an adapter though.
