Blimey, it sounds like my Road Angel little black box that I had way back when.
Made a noise and flashed when you approached a speed camera.
Got to give it to Tom Tom that they are still in business and still make units with screens.
Surely everyone just uses their mobile if their car is old, or a Mk 2 Duster (like I had in '21 to '24) or has access to Car Play/Android Auto which like the 'Tom' also starts as soon as you turn on the car.
The 'Tom' still needs your phone after all.

Friend bought a ‘Tom’. He returned it as found it less than useful. Sample of one, I know, plus I don’t have any detail to share.
Ref TomTom, I have a 5 yr old professional with ‘lifetime’ maps and traffic on it, and still prefer it to any of the phone systems.I appreciate TomTom can withdraw support at any point, but it lives on for now. It’s also very useful if you’re in something large, being able to cope with height, weight limits and suitable roads for LGVs. I also don’t want my phone in a holder on the dash, nor to hand when driving.

Thanks both.
Can't really understand why Tom Tom thinks this will sell given google maps/waze are free.
In fact can't understand how they're still in business
Because some people want to draw a hard line between anything phone based, that also needs to rely on a network connection, and options that need neither. Some people also do not want or need anything that require Android auto or CarPlay. Can't really understand why Tom Tom thinks this will sell given google maps/waze are free.
