I have a spare day away from the kids as the wife is shopping and the mother in law has offered to have the kids, so while scouting what to do I saw this was on.

Anyone been? Worth going to? And like all general shows what does it actually focus on (or have more of) in modelling?

Went a couple of years ago and it was OK, wouldn't go again though. Would say more more engineering than modelling, but a great view from ally pally.

Is this the one that used to be at Olympia on New Years day many years ago? Used to go with my Dad and loved it, may have to go again.

I didn't go in the end - decided to go to ASCOT model railway exhibition in Guildford instead - smaller, cheaper and closer!

It's different - that's why it's called Model Engineering.

There is a magazine called Engineering in Miniature, The Model Engineer was first published in 1897!
Just check out the various forums for eyeball popping stuff you can do at home, with just a bit of thought

It's still modelling though Eric. For my father's generation making a model started with a set of plans and pile of balsa or engineering drawings and a pile of metal.
