Blimey, you're working quickly these days.

Nice kit.

Any background on the ship itself?

I wish Eric. I started this kit last year then got bogged down, so put it to one side. It was only on the completion of the Scharnhorst that I thought it was about time I finished it.

HMS Roberts was a 15" gun monitor, her guns came from HMS Resolution. She was completed in 1941 and took part in bombardment duties for operations Torch, (North Africa), Husky, (Sicily), Avelanche, (Salerno), D-Day and Walcheren. After the war she was an accomodation ship in Plymouth until finally scrapped in 1965.

Good stuff. She's certainly broad of beam.

She's also very flat bottomed. Apparently they would get close inshore and flood her until she either sat on the bottom or sat as low down as she could go to make her a more stable gun platform. The she and her sister Abercrombie did excellent work, just a shame she wasn't saved as she was certainly different.

Congratulations - another stonker. As I said in another thread - why not post some build updates when you start your next ship?

Thanks. I will. I've got a few kits to build for three Britmodeller group builds, so will do a WIP on here as well.

One of her guns is one of the two outside the Imperial War Museum.
