Hi, I dont buy many models but do like if possible to get 1:18 scale of cars I've owned.
I have been trying to find an Aston V12 Vantage and lo and behold Ive found one, be it at the huge price of £117.99 which I think is ridiculous.
Its by AUTOart and in my colour so perfect.
The trouble is that for nearly a year now it says pre-order only.
How does this work? Do they wait until they have enough pre-orders before producing or will it eventually become available, and I just need to wait?
I am loathe to tie up nearly £120 on something that may never happen.
Tips from anyone familiar with this process would be appreciated.

Thank you

Di

Hi Di

The latest AutoArt 1:18 models are excellent. I already have the Murcielago SV in Matt Black at about the same price and that is still marked as Pre-order so doesn't mean it's not actually out.

I now buy a lot of my models on Ebay and there are good prices as well as bad ones. You just have to be patient sometimes to get a good price. Beware though, older models are sometimes in demand and prices then rise.

I've looked at AutoArt's website and can't see a V12 listed, only a V8. Are you sure they do a V12?

That's not the official AutoArt website. For instance, it's advertizing a few Lamborghini models that the official website doesn't list.

The header also states it's a site for 'AutoArt replicas'

Thanks for the replies guys, but I am a little confused!

Is the car I want a replica then, and likely to be of inferior quality if it ever surfaces?

Is this site safe to purchase from?

I have emailed AUTOart direct but no reply yet.

Just because someone has put that in the header of a website does not mean it's official!

There is NO official UK site being managed by AUTOart.

The Diecast industry relies heavily on pre-orders - that's why I gave up buying models several years ago, and the fact the prices are just far too high now. Remember those days when you could spend £40 to get a stunning 1:18 model, now you have to shell out over £100.

Sorry but the collection stopped a long time ago now. Wait 10 - 20 years and then start collecting them again on eBay at half the price wink

What? Replicas are copies. Like, not genuine? Worse? What I was saying is that the website is saying it doesn't sell genuine Autoart products.

Did you email AutoArt in Asia because that's where they are from. I've emailed them in the past and they have replied very quickly (which was a pleasant surprise).

I have no idea what the UK site is offering. Recent AutoArt models are very detailed and great quality, and yes, they are bloody expensive. These days, I stick to quality models like AutoArt, Kyosho & Minichamps.

In the context of the site, they mean AUTOart Replica's - ie scaled versions of the real car - not that these models are copies of AUTOart ones!

However, to get back to the OP about if these are available or not...

Let's look a little deeper...

This site is probably owned by GPL as when you click on the info link it takes you through to their site to pre-order.

If this is listed on that site but not on the official AUTOart site which is managed from their base in the Far East then this is GPL up to their old tricks again. Promoting a model as a pre-order that a manufacturer has not announced, hoping that from their vast customr base there can be enough interest in it to force AUTOart into making one. They have done this many times before with Minichamps...

Nothing surprises me about that company any more frown

Ah, apologies - It seems we were talking at cross-purposes due to my mistaken interpretation of replica.

I'm with you on that one, replica to me would mean it's not a genuine product.
