Can anyone identify this model ship? not a kit
Discussion
Hi,
I was just wondering if any of you might be able to shed any light on what this is (aside from dusty) and any ideas where it is from? The writing on the base says Fregata, XVIII Siecle which as I understand it just means 18th Century Frigate, which isnt too illuminating
I got it in 1998 and I believe it may have had some association with the RNLI, possibly bought from them at a gift shop or similar.

The background is that I gave a small, 3 or 4 quid plush toy to a friend back in about 1998 when I was at college and when my birthday came around I was presented with this from them, which was completely overwhelming. I've always kept it out on display as a reminder of how unexpectedly generous people can be, and now that I'm about to move into my first house it'll have a proper place on the mantlepiece so if theres anything more to know I'd appreciate it.
I realise its probably one of a million produced but it doesnt hurt to ask

I doubt it is intended to be any particular vessel. It's just a representation of a square-rigged sailing ship.
You are quite right. It is representatvive of absolutely nothing in particular.(Reminds me of mark and Lard's Radio 1 Antiques Roadshow - Is it worth ought!)
