As above really, anyone have any experience with these? if so, what are they like? overall quality? good quality stickers? Interested as i have just completed 2 Tamiya 1:24 kits, Nissan Skyline R34 Z Tune and Mercedes CLK GTR and found them both excellent. Currently on my third kit, Tamiya Nissan Skyline R33.

Finally regarding paint, i have used Tamiya spray paint for the body for all 3 kits so far and i like the quality of the paint but it does not seem to last very long and at £6 a can, it can get quite expensive, any other ideas regarding paint? Halfords?

Thanks.

Well, I can't help RE: Revell kits, as I've only built Fujimi/Aoshima so far, but for paints the cheapest way has got to be airbrushing.

It'll take the initial investment (buying the airbrush and compressor), but you can get set up for £100 comfortably. I use a cheap set (similar to this, but my airbrush has a smaller paint holder: Cheap kit on ebay)

I started out with a big stock of Citadel paints (warhammer), because I was familiar with the colour range - it's taken me until the last couple of weeks to realise just how much better for spraying things like Tamiya and Mr Color are. Isopropyl/Isopropanol alcohol will work as cheap thinner and airbrush cleaner (with the Citadel paints I need to use water as thinner to avoid clogging).

Once you're set up, I'd say my latest model has cost me approx £7 worth of paint/thinner. I used cheap (£3) spray cans of primer (no point paying for 'modelling' paint when automotive primer works just as well - I bought 'Simoniz' brand primer from ebay) - one can has done two kits, and then airbrushed all the major colours before handpainting details.

I've not built a recent Revell car kit, but I do have the Revell Sauber C9, and the Tamiya Sauber C9 in the stash. In direct comparison, the Revell kit looks every bit as good as Tamiya, as do the decals. The Revell kit has no engine detail though.

I bought a Revell SLS kit a little while ago, not yet built it but the parts look good, very detailed and seem to fit together well (I couldn't resist a quick test fit of the major body parts hehe).

I should be starting it next week or so, once I have finished the current one.
