I want to build something....
Discussion
.... but I don't know what. I've just got an itch.
It mustn't be too expensive - I'm not likely to use/play/display it much once finished, it's mostly the making.
It really shouldn't need (much) painting - 'cos if I paint it, it'll look s
t.
It should be quite tricky/complicated - a real sense of satisfaction when finished is good.
Electrics etc OK - I spent a while building my own torches, play with RC, that sort of thing.
Wood not so good - I'm more "solid" than "beautiful" when it comes to wood
So any ideas folks? Thanks in advance....

I did the Lego Technic thing....oooohhhhhh..... "some" years aog
Engines is a good call though....
If you go for the engine, I'd try to get an old version off EBay - it's got a proper distributor that work bulbs in the spark plugs, and it's motorised too. From what you wrote I think you'd enjoy building it, but it might be a bit expensive.

and if you want to go for the excavator then drop me a pm - I still have 2 sat on my shelf as I haven't got round to putting them on ebay yet!
I wish now I'd have bought another 3 for 2. I reckon that they will increase in value when they are discontinued. Might be worth keeping one "brand new sealed in box" ?I too have the desire to "build something". I was thinking of a good quality r/c car kit, as I really enjoy the process of putting it all together as much as I do using it once complete. In fact I was thinking of putting together a bit of a 'shelf queen' with a nice scale body and some shiny hop-ups.
