RC - HPI Nitro or Flux?
Discussion
I'm in need of some advice....
Looking to purchase my first RC car in about 15 years and the first decent one I would ever have owned.
I have around 400 to spend and have narrowed it down to the following two HPI models:
Savage X 4.6 Nitro
Or
Bullet ST Flux
I like the idea of the Nitro and the noise it makes but I'm worried that it I'll grow tired of not being able to pick it up and take it out without some prep work beforehand. Can anyone clarify how long it'd take to get one of these going each time, fuelling, starting etc? I love the idea of the vast majority of upgrades though, more so than the Flux which seems to have a more limited range of upgrades.
Also the speed of the Savage is around 41mph but I can't seem to find the equivalent for the Bullet, any ideas?
Out of the box of the two above cars does anyone have any first hand experience? Also know what additional items I'd require outside of the box to get them running?
One last question, the Savage looks to be able to go anywhere due to the chassis size, ground clearance and tyres the Bullet looks notably smaller and I'm worried it maybe more restricted to certain terrains, however it does state its fully waterproof which I'm keen on as I want to use it in the snow and wet, any opinions on this and also whether the Savage can cope well in the wet?
Many thanks in advance

Since selling my Savage 25 last year (for no other reason than I was sick of Nitro cars) and buying a Slash 4x4 Ultimate I can say wholeheartedly that you should go electric, it is easier to live with than Nitro, less maintenance, less mess, no starting troubles – very few problems
just make sure you get a good capacity battery to lengthen your run times.
The Slash 4x4 has smaller wheels and less ground clearance by half than the Savage and I have no problems on any rough terrain.
You won’t have a problem with the HPI kit either, the Savage 25 I had took all the punishment I could give it (including an accidental sea water bath – oops, which thankfully didn’t affect the electrics other than a drowned servo) in it’s stride, the only bits that broke seemed to be the cheaper plastic parts, which when you think about it were probably sacrificial lambs to protect the more expensive parts.

Bought our 8 year old son a Savage 4.6 for Xmas, brilliant bit of kit. Ran a couple of tanks through it at idle and spent another 3 tanks at half throttle doing figure 8's in a empty car park and that was it "Broken in" Played around with the carb to get it set up running correctly and the thing really does go well. Our lad got his little mitts on it and has mastered it already and so far so good no probs. Just bare in mind the noise and where you are planning on running it.
Thanks for all your comments, up until yesterday I was torn between the Nitro's and Flux, however yesterday I stumbled across the Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL.
This looks ideal, fully waterproof (some of the videos on YouTube of it in mud/snow/running water are insane!), quick out of the box, plenty of upgrades and a much better option than the original Bullet Flux I was looking at.
Anyone got one?
