I was browsing the model sites this weekend and noticed that Airfix are finally re-issuing the 4-Stroke single cylinder cutaway engine (£20ish):

I have the remains of one I attempted to build as a kid up in my parent's loft. I might actually get to finish this one! The Maudslay Paddle Engine is also being re-issued.

for those of you who received a Haynes 4 cylinder motorised engine for Christmas and need something more... Well, just more really, Hannants now have the Revell V8 in:

They also have the Chevy L89 Big Block, Plymouth 426 Hemi Cuda and Dodge 426 Hemi. I don't think these are motorised though.

Is that Revell V8 a good buy? Was thinking that my 6 ears old might enjoy trying to put it together....

I think it depends on your budget, £57 seems quite a lot. It appears like the build is very similar to the 4 cylinder one badged by Haynes etc. So don't expect superb detail.

It doesn't seem that bad for the V8, the un-motorised one they had before was £69 iirc.
