Sorry, I'm sure this has probably been done loads of times before but the search facility is broken (refreshingly).

I have a box load of old Scalextric track (80s vintage) Last time I put it together only one side worked - what's the best way to clean it all up to see if I can get it working again?

Thanks

I was told t cut was very good.

It depends how much you value your time, you can get miles of track for next to nothing these days on eBay.

as has been suggested track cleaning rubber or scouring pads on the actual metal tracks, make sure any wire links are there and replace / resolder if needed

cosmetic wise has anyone tried washing the track in a washing machine or dishwasher and then drying throughly in an airing cupboard etc ?

( dishwasher or in a pillow case in the washing machine is a well established trick for cleaning up lego )

I bet the track would tarnish pretty quickly in the dishwasher or washing machine.
