Simulating a car park
Discussion
I am wanting to simulate a carpark in the infield section of my scalextric. I have a few emergency vehicles, a helicopter/pad and usual cars but I cant seem to find out how ill simulate a car park. I only want two foot by three foot with or without white lines (but would need to know how to make white lines)
If you don't mind paying a couple of quid, then it's well worth looking at Scalescenes, specifically their scratchbuilders area;

There's a car park (with lines) in there and details on how much to increase or decrease the size depending on scale.

I once glued a layer of that simulated grass onto a piece of wood and sprayed it a dark grey. Painted white lines on it and it looked quite good. I imagine at the scale that Scalextric is at, the powdered grass stuff would look like that good-quality tarmac that's quite lumpy, if you know what I mean.

You actually given me another idea. I have bought some builders sand to simulate sand traps on other bends using PVA and plasterboard cut to size. If I do what youve suggested but instead of using the simulated grass I could use the sand glued to the plaster board and then spray that black - only issue is painting the white lines, how did you do that??

I just hand painted the lines on using Humbrol matt white paint. Took a couple of coats to cover it properly but looked pretty good.Think I did that for a 1/48 aircraft diorama and a larger car model, think it was 1/24.
