Been into model engineering (self taught) for a while. Started a 3.5in gauge (1/16 scale) Brittania some years ago, but decided to go large and am now on a 5in (1/12 scale) LNER B17.
There are only about 6 of these being built in the UK.
Just off on a tangent also involved with the building of a replica full sixe B17 12 in to foot scale

Crikey, so is that a brand new steam loco like Tornado or a conversion of another engine to make a B17? Facinating, were they the 'Footballer' class locos?

There were a couple of threads on live steam earlier this year.

This one was really good, a build log from scratch.

Rich,

Its the real deal!

Have got two tenders at the MNR a GE and LNER standard,so we can run both types. There is another group trying to get 61662 funded by ManU fans only On the basis they have the biggest fan base, but on the other hand are disliked by every other football fan!! but we want to run both types and not limit it to a particular club. The name will be decided by the membership, hopefully one that not contrversial and will not alienate a football/steam enthusiatic from contributing. Personally i rate this class of engine as i grew up with the on the GE line, but it would really stick in my throat if it was a specific club, (as much as i follow Spurs!) There is a long way to go financially as its 65k for the frames and about 500k for a UK built boiler.
Website should be up soon and when it is we can get going on the publicity big time.
Ron

I used to be involved with the local model engineering society, but never actually got round to building anything, despite having a lathe and milling machine in the workshop.
