3 Inch Spectre R45

Thanks to the world of 3D Printing I finally have a Spectre R45 model.
I gave it a coat of primer so I can see it. now needs sanding, paint and wheels.
Not sure if to use Tamiya TS-16, TS-47 or X-8.

Interesting subject, it is a rare treat to see one in the metal so a model will have to do, I know a guy who used to work for Spectre and test drove the prototypes. I look forward to seeing it in paint, just don't do it bright yellow

It will be yellow because it was modelled around Marks one. He has helped alot with it

It's not the easiest model to sand down. and it needs smaller front wheels.

Tried Halfords filler primer - the yellow stuff? It'll probably smooth that out without you having to remove so much plastic.

That's looking really good Stew.

My comment about the colour was only a joke, you put the codes up but no clue as to what colour they were, plus the only road spec car left is yellow so it has to be really.

Keep up the good work, not only is there only one 1:1 version, this is the only scale model of the R45 I know of as well.

My local hobby shop didn't have any TS yellow. so I used PS-6.
I should have used a white primer. but I can always do that in the future if I need another one.

Its not the painting that sucks

What this bloody marvellous model needs is judicious use of a modelling knife to straighten the edges where the paint borders are...

Then careful masking

And if you want a damned good finish buy a Tamiya aerosol paint

Six and a half quid's worth of delicate spraying ideal for this car



But really

This is just a tad magical you know, blimmin' black magic too, at that.

I'm not much of a fan of masking. it either peels paint off or leaves jagged lines.

I get your point but it can be done without tears

(hope you saw wot I dun there )

I often mask "off line" and use the mask simply to guide my brush , but honestly just straightening/defining the "line" is what you probably needed before painting the black

Next time you spend a half million quid on a model you might give it a go

Wow! Like that Stew, mighty impressive considering you have built all this up from scratch; I do have the original moulds when you want to step up to a full size model?- Oh and perhaps the wheels are closer in its 2012 guise now than original- running a set of 20's on the back and 19's on the front now..... keep up the good work, I'm stunned!
