My broken KYOSHO Outrage needs help
Discussion
Hello All,
Hoping you can help!
Today i have re-discovered my KYOSHO Outrage remote control car, how ever it doesnt work. It probably 1995 or similar.
It is electric, with 2 servo's in it. It all looks to be in good condition. The battery is a 7.2v 1300mAh one, and holds its charge well.
The problem im having is this;
I can turn the thing on, and turn the wheels left and right with the controller, but as soon as i hit forwards or back, the thing just crawls backwards less than half a meter and then stops.
Anyone got any idea's on what this could be? It's been sat in a box for a while, but i haven't played with any wiring or anything!
Thanks in advance Guys and Girls!

If the battery is that old it will most likely be shot it may be able to hold charge but I doubt it will be able to deliver the required current it once did.
My advice would be drop the battery (probably NiCad) at the local recyclers and pick up a new NiMh battery from the local model shop. A 3000+ mAH pack shouldn't cost much and will make it run for a long time.

Awesome, thanks.
This one is a nicad - 1300mah i think.
It's running now as we speak, but only on tarmac, as soon as it hits the grass it stops moving all together.
Sometimes the servo's are sluggish in terms of going back to N after foraward or back.
does this all point to the battery being naff? If so, i will get a new one and a new charger too i guess, or will my current RIKO NiCAD charger work?
Thanks

xIs it on and old mechanical speed controler? if so bin it and buy an electronic one as they are far better and quite cheap these days even for a good one.
It does point to the battery being past it to me because though it will run it it does seem like it is unable to deliver the current demands of the cars electronics
