Seeing as this IS PistonHeads and we are all into Motorsports/Cars/Bikes, I thought you may like to see a GREAT bit of Scale Racing.

We've just got back from the 1/8th Scale Off-road European Champs in Oberburen, Switzerland where my lad (in the Pink/Green/White Bullitt engined Xray XB9) took 3rd place overall against some of the best.

https://vimeo.com/43889359

shows the last 5 minutes of a dabble that lasted for the 10-12 or so.

Enjoy

Incredible traction for those things when they're hooked up. What sort of power to weight ratio do they have?

Very impressed with the XB9. We've been with Xray since the 2008 and this latest car is by far the best they've made. Great weight distrubution, very 'agile', jumps well and seems to 'warn you' if you are pushing too hard before it has an accident.

Quality as always is first rate.

Ben tried Losi a couple of times but found it a little unresponsive for his driving style - said he didn't feel 'connected' to the car.

.......... and yes - it is a long way to go. A round trip of nearly 1900 miles for me smile

Well the buggies weigh in at about 3.5Kg and the engines are said to produce around 3bhp. So, if my math is correct, not too far short of 1000bhp/tonne yikes

I can believe it. The lunge forwards when the tyres are digging in is fantastic. Well done to your boy. Great hand eye coordination. Swap him into a sport with money in it quickly!

Sounds about right! My Schumacher fusion is stated to be 960bhp. 0-60mph in under 2 seconds and redlines at 36000 rpm biggrin Useless off-road mind you hehe

interesting to hear that, as when i tried the previous xray (808 i believe) i thought it was quite dull, but i guess we all get used to how a car drives

I was there with my two boys (unfortunately not at Ben's level yet)

Ben's drive was amazing he was overtaking in places that you most other racers would not even consider.

The track was very bumpy and unpredictable more so than any other track we have been on.

The other problem was that with the bad weather we did not get as much chance to set up the cars and learn the track as we thought we would.

We in the UK team were all proud of Ben

ps I know how nerve racking it is watching your own son race at any event but in the A final of a European championship, how dis you manage?

Hardest part was going 45 mins without a ciggie yikes

As usual the British Team had a fantastic relationship with each other that made the crap weather seem not so bad.

Are you at Coventry this weekend? If so, I'll see you there.

Awesome bit of racing. I held the national mardave mini stock championships about 15 years ago. This brings back memories of having to hold your nerve on the final few laps. Love to give this one a go!
