Thats essentially the car I had but mine was the GTR which was a circuit car with small wheels avd mclaren F1 body.
I'm on my phone so can't really see well, is it pull start or drill start? Has it got the 3 speed pinion?
If its pull start they cause issues, you imagine pulling a coiled spring hundreds of times, sometimes it shafts up!
They're a great engine, I used to us 25% and run it a tiny bit rich. That doesn't get the full power out of it but it protects it from expiring - it'll still be really fast especially off road.

It's a drill start That has just been replaced, and yeah 3 speed too, shell needs some tidying or replacement but he has said I can see it running before parting with any readies for it.

You can't really go wrong. As long as it goes when you get it you should be fine, there's only 2 elements - fuel and glow.
Alway make sure you've got a stack of good quality glow plugs and a spare fully charged glow starter. There's nothing worse than being miles from home and your glow starter is flat or your glow plug isn't strong enough.

Well pulled the trigger on it and collected it today, at £80 fully running it was hard to say no, so far seems to run sweet.

Going to buy some new glow plugs and some more fuel and hopefully get a couple of hours running with it to get used to it properly than start looking at upgrades and a new shell for it.

i have this car, only problem i've had is the rear tyres coming off, so glued them on and broke the plastic suspension arms, but you can get alloy ones pretty cheap if yours hasn't already been fitted with them

Been looking at alloy upgrades on the website actually, may stick alloy wishbones and upper suspension carriers on and going to replace the wheels and tyres plus when I took it apart in the garage yesterday noticed one of the tie rods is bent too so going to swap that out the set the tracking.
