Polistil model
Discussion
I remember them from family holidays in the 70's, typically on sale in Italy (where they were made) and sometimes France.
As you can see, they were more the toy end of the market than realistic models - those tyres are impressively wide, even by '70s standards!
I think it's probably based on Jackie Stewart's Tyrreel 003 from 1971 - http://f1-history.deviantart.com/art/Tyrrell-003-F... - but the rear wing is very strange and I can't find pictures of that on the real car.
The plastic cases were one of the better features, I seem to remember that they were often sold in the Italian equivalent of Woolworths where they were "displayed" in those floor standing wire baskets that you rummage through, so the case had to be strong to protect them from destruction. I think there were two plastic fasteners (rather like Dzus) which held them in the case.
Not a lot more I can say other than what a google search will tell you, I'd suspect they're quite rare in this country but I don't think in this case rare would mean valuable - but I could be proved wrong!

And now I prove myself wrong... http://www.carmodel.net/zoomPage.php?MTEwNTM8Oj4xP......though it's often said that "Asking for and selling for are not the same thing".
