Finished 1/12 Tamiya ZX-14 Special Colour Edition

This is the first bike I have done since I was about 15, superb fit as usual from Tamiya.
I decided not to do the white or red versions as they didnt really pop out for me, so I tried Tamiya's Park Green.
Also, tried Alclad Airframe Aluminium for the first time on the exhausts. An OOB build apart from just drilling the brake disks.
More pics will follow with the fairing on once I get an area set up again to take the pics.
This though is just practice for the big one, a Tamiya Monster Tech YZR-M1 2009 with Forks set and Top Studio Detail up set (first time with PE!).

Great built there. Did you use Alclad Burnt blue on the headers, or is a reflection?

Lol not brave enough yet to try the heat staining. The pipes are actually Airframe Aluminium and the cans are Stainless Steel. Both with Alclad Gloss Black primer and I cant really see much difference between them, is that right? I expected the Stainless Steel to be darker. Sprays lovely though.

No idea what the different Alclad silvers look like TBH. For my F-84 I just picked three (Polished Aluminium, Aluminium and Jet Exhaust) and mixed them and matched them until I thought it looked OK. Otherwise you could spend £100's just on Alclad.

IIRC there was a stall at Telford last year that had all the different shades of Alclad on a big display. This year I might take a photograph of it.

I did try using Tamiya clear blue on my XJR9 exhaust, and it looked fine - you just airbrush it lightly over silver around pipe joint areas.

Wow! Not just a fantastic model but great photography! Looks really good.

In the past I've used combinations of Tamiya clear red and blue to depict exhaust heat discolour to good effect. This article shows one method of application although it's a bit too orange for my liking: http://www.scaleautomag.com/How%20to%20and%20Model...
