Hard to find and obsolete 1:43 Diecast.
Discussion
Hi all,I have built many Airfix, Revell kits etc as a kid and then again when my own kids came along. It was a good chance to buy models again and pretend it was for them. Now I have retired I have a little pet project in mind and that is to collect if possible an example of every car I have owned or bought (for the wife etc) since I began driving.1:18 scale will take up too much room - although I have some - so 1:43 would be perfect.
Many have been quite easy to find via ebay etc, for example the red Isuzu Piazza Turbo I had in the 80`s, an Audi 100 from the 70`s and so on. Some are proving hard to find though such as a Datsun 180B (pre Bluebird era), Rover Sterling, Rover 800 (facelift)and some others. any suggestions as to where to look?, I have tried John Ayrey and some manufacturers websites but am starting to get stuck. Believe it or not i can not find a Range Rover Vogue Classic apart from the Corgi toy ones, any thoughts guys????

It's a shame that some very familiar cars on British roads don't seem to have made it to diecast, but it seems there are a few surprising gaps. Some may have been done in 1/43 by white metal kit manufacturers, but (without sounding too critical of their honourable efforts!) many older white metal models don't compare well with modern diecasts, and are usually hard to find and expensive. The only Rover Sterling I know of is the old corgi 1/32 jobbie. As for the RR Classic, a Google search turned this up:
http://www.alpimodel.com/ixo/clc010.html Supposedly a petrol 3.5, but looks like a diesel to me.

I've done the same, but had to make a few compromises, MK2 Cavaliers only seem to be hatchbacks not saloons, had to make do with an Opel Kadette as there wasn't a Chevette until a recent Rally release (now bought), I have a Celica Supra, just not a wide arch 2.8i and there's no MK3/3.5 Hyundai Coupe/Tuscani/Tiburon in 1/43 (I have a 1/38 Genesis Coupe as a compromise).
On the Classic Range Rover, I have 4, an IXO Classic Road, 2 Norev Rally Versions and a Solido (similar to Corgi), the IXO Road Version is rare but they do appear on the bay from time to time (you should have a look as there's one on there now (not mine)).
