Maverick Ion 1/18th RTR truck

My bro brought my eldest a New Bright Velocity buggy for his 7th birthday. Boy was quite, quite excited. However, first run, after 2 small jumps the gearbox was shredded. What a piece of crap. Check this video out for just how poor it is. (watch to the end, it's worth it - or just skip to 1:25)

After much investigation and trying to sell the concept of a Grasshopper to the wife, we looked at HPI Mini Recon's but decided on this instead:

Slightly cheaper but made by the same people.

Very quick despatch by the seller, arrived today and is charging ready for a run after school.

First impressions: it's very solid. The composite chassis and other bits seem tough. Lots of spares available at a reasonable price as well
The controller has a throttle response adjustment so might be able to wind the speed down till he gets used to it

It's had its first outside run today. Very tough, some full throttle wall smacks shrugged off. I'm sure he'll learn when to release the throttle.

Good run time, maybe 30 mins off a 3 hour charge
Good on jumps.

And there is a throttle adjustment on the remote control to limit the speed controller. "turn it up to 10 daddy... please.."
