My son is 6, 7 in January.

He has a Tamiya Vannessas Lunchbox. In fact, he has had it since he was 4 weeks old. I shall be getting another soon so we can build one together.

They are bloody superb fun- not the best for racing, or handling, but for fun, they are brilliant.

Hope this helps:

My Brother's 7 year old boy wanted an R/C car for Christmas last year. He's quite lively and gregarious, so I did wonder if it might get smashed to buggery quite quickly...

But, my bro had a similar budget and asked me to source and build something.

So, I got a Tamiya 'Rising Fighter' package for about £130.

I built it up for him, and I'm pleased to say, a year on, the boy still loves it, uses it lots, has crashed it lots, but it's still going strong now.

Quite a resilient model for such little money...worth a look.

Ta RYL.....that's a well timed post! I'm thinking of getting my 6yo boy a wee RC car, and there is more to than meets the eye...and they cost an arm and a leg too!

Anyone else recommend a good one?

The rising fighter looks nice and it's available near me for £160 ready built. Just not sure if that's a bit of overkill for a 7yo boy.
