Scalectrix and cars?
Discussion
Unless the cars come in a digital set, in which case they will be ready to run on a digital track, they will need a chip fitting to make them digital compatible. For saloon cars there are two types of chip, depending on the car. If the car is digital ready, this means there is a small plate in the base of the car held in with a single screw. To convert this type of car is easiest, as the chip is supplied on a plate that simply replaces the one on the car, and just requires plugging in. For a car that is not digital ready requires the body to be removed so that the digital chip can be soldered in to place. It's not too bad if you can use a soldering iron, it just takes a little longer.
I was in Gaugemaster yesterday and amongst their set ups was a Scaletrix track, I couldn't believe how much better they are than the original, and they stick like the preverbial to the track not like the originals as well, really top stuff, maybe I'll have to have cars as well as trains!!!
