So.. I'm sat here with my 1/16 VsTank Leopard 2 A5 - which incidentally just became part of my pythons vivarium setup - and i'm wondering if there are any other guys on here make similar sized models or rc tanks (around the 1/16 scale)? If so, can you post them up and their make/model/kit as i'm looking for a new outlet biggrin

You mean like these smile

Don't have to many photos.

They are Tamiya 1/16 RC full option kits (lights, sound, gun recoil etc etc) and also have the battle system. Which is brilliant. Tiger I and a Pershing.

Bought and built them 8yrs ago when living in Japan. It was raining quite badly for a week or two and there was a model shop just round the corner. Compared to UK prices they were very cheap, and gave hours of fun in the apartment smile The helicopter I bought wasn't quite so happy being flown around such a small apartment.

They now need a bit of a refresh/repair.

They're the badgers! I was looking at the Tamiya full option Leopard 2 A5... Then my jaw did a bungee jump at the price!

IIRC they were about half the price they are here in Japan.

They're really, really good kits though. Well worth saving for. And should you come across someone else with one, the battle system makes them as much fun to play with as they are to build smile

I always hankered after their 1/16th tanks, but if you think Tamiya are expensive, then get thee to Armortek

1/6th, scale thickness armour - and you need to think carefully about how you're going to get them outside...

I bought a full option Tamiya Königstiger just over a year ago it was a great build process (typical Tamiya I guess), relatively quick by some standards; four weeks from start to finish (most of the waiting was the paint drying between assembly stages – some people spend years making them look like exact replicas of the full size spending ££££’s on parts – I just wanted a really nice model tank that was better than the toy ones that you can buy for considerably less.

Here is the build thread I did on it.

YouTube video of it (YT decided to alter the aspect ratio after I uploaded it and I have no idea how to sort that out frown ):

And a couple of pictures:

Current modifications (since the build) over stock, the commanders hatch opens and closes on a spring and shaft assembly (and Velcro on the commanders base so I can remove Col. Fritz and the MG from the turret when I am driving it around) and plasticard in-fills at the rear of the hull to plug holes in it so that dirt and water can’t get in as easily whilst it is running, and the road wheels are on bearings rather than bushes.

I am going to upgrade to the Shumo bearing front shaft supports and tensioners before buying a set of Impact metal tracks. I am also tempted by the Shumo track hangers for the turret so that I can hang spare metal track links on the turret.

I've got a couple of small Sherman's, in a resin & lead Crab / Flail which I made.

My Dad landed on D Day in one. He was a loader/operator.

Only made one so far. Think I need to have a go at a few more looking at them above once I get this lot out of planes the way.
