So gents whilst still slowly working my way through my Tyrrell P34 build I remembered I may have some old kits in the parents loft. So a trip home and sure enough 4 kits that I started building many years ago as a young lad when painting models was boring and building them was fun.

Here they are with the Tyrrell:

And the boxes -1:

So I have:

Tamiya Toyota GT-One 1/24
Tamiya Merkava Israeli main battle tank 1/35
Academy Isralei M113 Fitter combat repair vehicle 1/35
Revell NASCAR 50th anniversary tin with car 24 (code 85-4138) 1/24

My problem is. I've glued them many years ago is there a way I can dip them to strip the glue and start again fresh so I can paint them properly?

Can you remember what you glued them with? If liquid poly, you might be able to freeze the model and then crack the joints apart. otherwise, you might be able to score with a new scalpel blade and get the joints apart that way. I'm pretty sure that dipping in brake fluid or oven cleaner won't make much difference.

Whatever you try, I'd go for a non-essential bit first.

Yeah liquid poly. Ill dip the NASCAR in brake fluid to get rid of the shocking attempt at painting. But did think it wouldn't free the glue.

MR Muscle oven cleaner is very good for removing enamel paint - just put the model in a plastic bag overnight with Mr Muscle sprayed over it and the paint will just wash off withoit damaging the underlying plastic

My favourite car, I did have the tamiya RC version of it all carbon chassis but sold it frown and have a diecast and the LeMans press pack for it. Was thinking of getting the Autoart car as well.
