I am new to RC cars have one of these to go with my newly built Midnight Pumpkin.

The transmitter has a charger port in but I have no idea what sort of batteries you put in it if you want to use the charger port and what sort of charger do you need?

Also is it worth it - clearly over the long term it will be cheaper to use rechargeable batteries but my last experiences of using rechargeables instead of notmal AAs was that they lasted nowhere near as long.

Any AA rechargables will do, however Nimh will be better then nicad, ie last longer. Go for the largest ah you can find, probably around 1800ah. Have no experience of eneloops but they are also meant to be good.

You could also fit Lipo's but will need a lipo charger. DO NOT FIT LIPO'S AND USE A STANDARD CHARGER!!!

Cheers. So then I just need a charger that plugs into the port on the controller?

Yes. Or get something like this...

Or this with just the batteries required for the Tx

I've always taken the batteries out for charging - unless the transmitter uses a custom battery pack.

If something goes wrong with the charger or batteries, you risk killing your transmitter.

Cheers all.

Controller works well for running the Pumpkin in the fields. Mine only cost £20 when Modelzone in Holborn closed down.

Just ordered a Hornet so need to decide whether to get another of these or something else.
