This thread is more an opportunity to get some paint ideas for a new shell of mine. Might be easier if we post picture/s and then a small description e.g. Picture, name of shell and paint used.

I'll have some pictures up in a few days.

Cheers.

We have lots of scarred shells laying around, they seem to have more character the more they get damaged. I'm painting a HPI Toyota AE86 Levin for my drift car, I was thinking yellow (we already have two shells painted in the yellow I have my eye on) or an orange. Either those two, another colour I can find (would prefer to see some pictures of a shell painted to get an idea of what it's like) or something crazy like neon pink (like my current Tamiya M05 shell). The thing with paint is, the camera can't capture the paint properly and then different screens make the colour samples look different which can make a vibrant colour in the flesh look flat or lighter/darker on a screen.

If anyone has any shells painted in a Tamiya or Fastrax paint, could you post up any pictures you have? Thanks in advanced.

I have no idea how this is painted, I just wanted to show it off. It's a very rare Yokomo Racing Trailer Head, sadly sold now frown

All my old shells must be at my Parents house.

Just got these at the. Think the pink is Tamiya paint done a few years ago now.
Both Tamiya and Fastrax paint is ok. I always used a bright shell you just need to back it with white.

Sorry rubbish pics I took ages ago

Those shells look the business, Matt. smokin I can't imagine how much all of those cans of paint must have added up to. The truck is awesome, but looks expensive. eek

Theshrew, I prefer simple, one colour shells like yours. Is that a 12th scale? They look mentally fast in the flesh, and seem to act as a ramp if you hit them. hehe

The bigger is 10th scale the smaller is 12th. Both are pretty quick but the 12th has loads of grip to go with the speed.

I did have some real fancy ones but I got fed up of painting them and the guy who used to paint for me moved away the ones he did were brilliant.

This isn't mine but I had some a bit like this

I've only seen 12th scales run a few times, and the last time was probably the most memorable. One car managed to peel up the tape holding the carpet together and the next car flew straight under, which started a chain reaction and 5 out of the 6 cars running were stuck under. hehe

There are a few people that race at my local club who do airbrushed shells. They do look amazing but we were told about 40 quid to paint a Mini sized shell. The shell was only £20 so wasn't worth it to be honest.

Exactly why i stopped getting them done. Its not to bad if your outside and a fair std they last quite a long time. If your racing inside they get hammered.

Best bet is to pick 1 or 2 colours spray em jobs jobbed
