Right, so I've been collecting diecast since my parents bought me my first Minichamps at 4 years old. I've collected hundreds over the years. Some worth very little, some a lot, and everything inbetween. I've moved out my parents, (am now 22) and in my own place, however they are (quite rightly) after their space back, so I've started listing some of them on eBay. I've started feeling weirdly connected to them all again when I've been digging them out to photograph them.

I'm going to keep a few of my favourites obviously but that will still mean having to get rid of some pretty rare/desirable models, am very worried about the prospect of watching the antiques roadshow in 30 years and wishing I never did this!

Any experiences on here of people doing anything similar.

Had to raise a deposit to move out of my parents house last year and the only way to do it was to start parting with my RC collection.

My dad told me that it's just 'one of those things' and that he sold his prized collection of Scalextric cars when we were nippers because he needed the cash. He's just started buying similar examples back off of eBay at much higher prices than he sold them at all them years ago (he's 49 now).

I parted with my less 'special' models, but have still kept a lot. I'll try my best not to part with them, even though the majority sit in their respective boxes 365 days a year!

Most of my stuff has been passed down to Nephews so not too bad. i have kept a few of the more special ones.

Recently started to buy loads of Scalextric cars and so on. Make sure you keep the ones you really like though, forget the value, go with your heart.

Have already started listing some on eBay. But off the top of my head 18th scale BMW's include:
- Autoart Z8 Road car in red
- UT Models Z3M Roadster in Silver (dealer packaging)
- UT Models BMW 320i STW E36
- Autoart Andy Priaulx 2005 WTCC 320i E46
- Various Schumacher BMW Williams Minichamps F1 cars

When I type that to think that's just one manufacturer in one scale that makes me realise just how big my collection is! Lol

Yes. I sold my entire collection of 1:43's through ebay. 300+ of them.

Can you link to your ebay stuff? Can't find your models.

Don't want to break forum rules posting my own sale ads but my eBay seller I'd is Euan177

I have a limit on my account that says I can only list 10 items at a time, having to go through the process of removing that before I list the rest

I've downsized my collection a lot, ebay is definitely the easiest way since the biggest model forums seem to have put a buying and selling ban in place to stop abuse by traders.

On the plus side, due to the massive spike in diecast prices over the last 5 years or so, your models will probably be worth more than what you paid for them

My collection of die casts will be going in a couple of weeks - not via flea bay though.

They will be going to auction as I want a good price & don't want the hassle of flea bay. Reluctant sale but they have to go along with my car mags, car books & record collection.

I have lists of what I have got.......
