Need something that can withstand off-road punishment - jumps, wet stuff, mud, hills, dogs running after it etc; can someone recommend something? When I was a kid all there was tamiya or at least thats all I knew of, now there a huge amount of cars to choose. Was thinking perhaps hobao hyper 7 TQ2 RTR.
I run 1/10th Scale Buggies , after perusing various sites for all thing's rc orientated i came across the Vaterra Twin Hammer's 1/10th scale ready to run buggy.
I like the look of this and there's a youtube video of one getting used properly . If i were going for a real rugged big wheel buggy this would be on my want list.
JE Model's is the place selling these bad boy's.

I have had a Hobao Hyper 7 for years, and it has never broken or let me down.
Compared to my previous Kyosho Buggy which stripped gears all the time it's been very reliable.
I have also upgraded it to the two speed gearbox, which came with steel gears so that was a worthwhile upgrade.

Seems like a good option to me for £260!
Go for it, you will have a lot of fun!

100% Hpi Savage X 4.6, it's an absolute monster and can take alot of punishment. Backflip jumps no worries!
I second this! I've had one for about 5 months put nearly 2 gallons through it and its still going strong, only thing that's gone wrong is a few screws falling out due to me not lock-tightening them back in after cleaning! Oh and the body shell is absolutely ruined from my rather aggressive driving style.Mark82 said:
Traxxas Slash....
This, I have the Slash 4x4, it is solidly built, fast on 7 cell NiMH (supplied) and utterly silly on 3s LiPo, can take lots of punishment, spares are easy to get, it can run in wet conditions and has a really good battery life; flat out on the stock 4200mAh gives 12 minutes run time and average of 30 minutes 'bashing'. A 5000mAh 3s LiPo gives around 20 minutes flat out (get a damn good LiPo if you want to do this) and around 45 minutes of 'bashing'.I think they do a nitro version now as well if you want to have a IC powered one.
They come with everything in the box except 4 AA's for the transmitter (they last ages). I'd buy a decent fast charger and a second battery pack if you go electric just for extra run time.
