I guess it's time to start thinking about the lighting I need for a little project of mine.

Last year I got most of the lego Christmas village sets, but I want to light them properly this year. Either with fibre optics or LEDs in the street lights and buildings etc.

The plan is to build a the village with additional snow and roads etc.

Anyone know where to go for this sort of custom kit?

One of the Maplin LED kits is probably a good starter point if you want it to flash or do something other than just statically illuminate, remembering that you can add some wire to the LEDs to make them more remote. If just static, then a simple circuit with some wires, resistor/s and LEDs/bulbs will sort you out. Instead of fibre optics, which are a real pain and a bit dodgy if done incorrectly, look into thin plastic filament, which you can get in a variety of thicknesses and all you need to do is heat-shrink an LED onto the end of it. You just need to carefully cut and polish the ends.
