My little lad is now 7, but has been a mad Lego fan since about 4.

With Father Christmas asking for lists (!) and with his Lego building skills advancing, I'd like, sorry, Father Christmas would like to get him some more advanced sets for Xmas.

We've worked our way through both Ninjago & Chima, and now Star Wars seems to be the new favourite, but I'm keen to steer him towards Technics sets.
I tried him on the Quad Bike when he was 6, but that was still a bit tricky for him at that point.

Can anyone make any recommendations, and where they can be purchased at a reasonable price.
Amazon seem to have some decent prices on the larger sets at the moment.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I've also found Asda Direct, John Lewis, Argos, Boots and Tesco can do good deals. Just a case of catching them at the right time (probably just after Christmas!). Jadlam Racing is owned by a PHer so worth trying there along with Smyths Toys.

I'm all for supporting an independant, so I'm off to take a peek at Jadlam Racing.

Anyone looking to sell any duplicate sets?

be very careful with Amazon, their prices can be higher than RRP coming up to christmas

I used to look for local lego on ebay for my son when he was that age, so I could pick it up
Would also recommend visiting an offical lego shop

Buying Lego.....

Can become addictive, dangerous for the wallet/credit cards, causes huge problems at home when swmbo eventually finds out just how much the Technic kits cost (as i have found out)!!!!

On the brighter side - buying Lego & building the models is great fun & i would recommend it to anyone - & i am 55!!!!

Council of Elrond has been cheap at Tesco recently, should be on offer until 3 of november at half price £15 instead of £30.

Some of the other LOTR were half price as well. Mirkwood with the elfs, £12.50, gollum and bilbo £6, the other spider set £10 instead of £20, not sure if they still are though, but i picked up another Council of Elrond this afternoon, so they are on offer still.

Its sometimes pot luck, but tesco can discount models upto and around 75% off when they are clearing stuff out. Some of the turtles were half price as well.

If your kid likes The Lone Ranger You can get discounts on those sets at the moment. The bank is £22.99 from £40 on john lewis and amazon seem to be matching the discount.

If you want technic, something like the tracked crane could be nice http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3... there is a small Set at £8 as well as the mini unimog at £7 ish, which can also be built as a small race car, good excuse to buy 2 wink.

Due to a family bereavement I have not been able to get my order over to Jadlam.
Do these offers come along often?

Some bargains on Amazon tonight -
they have reduced a lot of sets to compete
with Argos' 3 for 2 deal.

I just got the cargo train for £86 and Friends Heartlake City Pool for £23. Both 33% off.

Jabba's Sailing Barge was on my lads Christmas list, and with a 33% discount it had to be ordered.
Apologies to Russy as I'd much rather have given you the pennies, but the discount was too good to miss.
